Music in the 914 Emo Versus Nu Metal Night at Yonkers Brewing Company
Music in the 914 was back again at Yonkers Brewing Company on Main Street in Yonkers, New York right down by the pier, and this night was dope from start to finish. Hosted once again by AJ and the 914 Collective, the theme for the night was Emo versus Nu Metal, and the energy in the room matched that battle perfectly.
Personally, I grew up loving nu metal in the early 2000s. I was never huge into emo, but I absolutely loved the aggression and raw emotion of nu metal. Linkin Park is my favorite band of all time, and that whole era shaped a lot of the music I still enjoy today. Bands like Limp Bizkit, Korn, and others from that time just hit different, especially live.
I ended up hanging out with my friend Tony during the show, who actually enjoys emo more than I do, so it made the whole experience even more fun. It was cool seeing both sides represented and seeing how passionate the crowd was for each genre.
The bands absolutely delivered. The Limp Bizkit (@breakstuffli) cover band kicked things off and set the tone early. The energy was high, the crowd was moving, and once they played Break Stuff, the place went completely crazy. After that, the My Chemical Romance (@killjoyslive) cover band took the stage, and it was wild seeing everyone sing along word for word. People were really pouring their little emo hearts out and having the time of their lives.
What made the night even cooler was that most of the guys in the Limp Bizkit cover band were also part of the My Chemical Romance cover band. A true dual cover setup, and honestly, they nailed both sounds. Everything sounded amazing, and you could tell how talented they were.
The crowd was awesome, the vibe was right, and it was one of those nights where you could feel how much everyone genuinely loved the music. I had such a good time that it made photographing the event even more fun. I captured a bunch of great images simply because I was enjoying myself and wanted to document the energy of the night.
Music in the 914 continues to be one of my favorite local music series, and nights like this are exactly why. Big shoutout to AJ and the 914 Collective for consistently bringing great music and great people together in Downtown Yonkers.
