Behind the Lens: Phero Athleisure Brand Photoshoot
I had the chance to work with Phero, an up-and-coming athleisure brand founded by two friends, Yvette and Cynthia. You can follow them on Instagram at @pheromovement. Their vision is simple: create athletic wear that looks good and feels good for women to work out in. A men’s collection is already on the horizon, and based on what I’ve seen, it’s going to be strong.
This shoot took place across two locations, each offering a completely different look and vibe, which made the project both fun and visually dynamic.
Location One – The Marina (Dykman, NYC)
We started at the marina at the end of Dykman in the Heights. Timing worked out perfectly—we hit golden hour, which gave us beautiful warm tones coming off the water.
For lighting, I used the Godox AD400 as the key light and let the setting sun serve as the backlight. The combination gave Zain and Natalie a natural glow while keeping the product and poses crisp and detailed.
Location Two – ToDo Studios (Yonkers, NY)
After the marina, we headed up to ToDo Studios in Yonkers. Here, we switched gears and went for a clean, polished studio look. We shot on the white cyc wall with continuous lighting, which helped keep the images modern, sharp, and brand-focused.
Gear Used
I shot the day using my main setup:
Canon R6 Mark II
RF 28-70mm f/2
RF 15-35mm f/2.8
EF 70-200mm f/2.8
That combination gave me flexibility to move from wide lifestyle shots to tight detail images that show off the texture and fit of the clothing.
The Models
Zain (Male)
Natalie (Female)
Both brought great energy and confidence, which made the shoot flow naturally and helped the brand’s personality shine through the images.
Why I Love Shoots Like This
Projects like this are the reason I love working with local brands. Phero represents hard work, determination, and vision—qualities I see in myself and many other creators grinding toward something bigger. It’s motivating to link up with like-minded people who are not just dreaming, but putting in the work to make it real.
The shoot was a success start to finish, and I’m looking forward to seeing where Phero takes this next.
