Capturing the Holiday Spirit: Yonkers Costco Holiday Party

For the past three years, I’ve had the honor of photographing the annual holiday party for Yonkers Costco Wholesale. It’s one of those events I look forward to every year — filled with energy, laughter, and a sense of celebration that perfectly captures the holiday season.

My goal with every event like this is simple: create lasting memories for everyone who attends. I set up a fun and festive backdrop to give guests that “step and repeat” style photo experience — something they can look back on and smile.

This year’s setup was one of my favorites yet. The backdrop featured gold sequins in the center fading to black on the edges, giving a classy, glamorous look. I added a green chair with gold accents, a black rug, and a mini Christmas tree with lights for some extra holiday charm. To finish the scene, I wrapped some empty boxes in festive paper and placed a disco ball along with three different-sized candle holders with battery-powered candles — giving everything a warm, glowing vibe.

Of course, beyond the portraits, I always make sure to capture the energy on the dance floor — the laughter, the movement, the music, and those candid moments that really tell the story of the night. Costco also gives out plenty of gifts during the party, and I love catching the reactions of the employees as they realize what they’ve won. Those genuine smiles and surprised faces are what make these images so memorable.

I was really happy with how this year’s setup and photos turned out. Every year, I try to add something new to make the experience even more special for the team. I’m already looking forward to capturing next year’s event — and hopefully, working with new clients who are planning their own holiday celebrations.
